The aim is simple: Celebrate Ravi and raise funds for the charity his family have nominated. More below.

As you know Ravi sadly passed away in 2016. His family nominated CALM, the Campaign Against Living Miserably, to channel donations in his name. His passing impacted thousands of players and members of the Hockey Family across the world. In tribute to Ravi, giving him the farewell he deserves, and to raise funds for CALM I'd like to invite you to the following event:

Date: 27 May 2017
Venue: Wide Lane, Southampton (SO50 5PE)
Who: Wessex Alumni, Wessex, Gophers Alumni, Reading HC, Fareham HC
What: A (very) friendly tournament, followed by a trip to Clowns & Jesters in the evening

The Details:

This is envisaged as an all day / weekend event, starting at 10am on the Saturday. The event will take place at Wide Lane Sports Ground on the outskirts of Southampton. All are welcome to attend, whether you are participating or not. I'd hope we can raise a minimum of one team per named club, but think we can probably get a few out. The format is yet to be determined, hopefully we can get a six a side event together with multiple teams from each club.

Wessex Clothing have kindly agreed to help produce kit for the occasion so we can raise further funds for CALM, and of course get some great stash which we know Ravi loved! Current plans are to have Wessex Alumni in maroon, current Wessex in yellow, Gophers Alumni in white, Reading HC in light blue and Fareham in black. On the back of each shirt would be "Ghowry 1".

I am assembling a collection of items to either be raffled or auctioned off at the event. Already I have had donations from Olympic Champions Kate and Helen Richardson-Walsh, Sam Quek and Adidas Hockey amongst others. If you are able to help with this or have any suggestions please message me.

As you surely know photography was close to Ravi's heart and he went on to become a preferred England Hockey photographer, testament to his craft. In light of this please feel free to bring your camera(s) with you and get in to the full spirit of things. I am also hoping to confirm with Wide Lane that we can blue tak some photos Ravi took of us playing up on the wall inside, to create a nice collage of his work.

Galvanised Hockey and The Hockey Paper have both agreed to cover this event. If you attend and do not wish to feature in footage please alert myself and any photographers / videographers.

Children are welcome by the way.
