Rascals come back from 0-2 down in last 10 minutes to draw!
Rascals 2 Henley 2
This was another excellent performance from the Rascals which should have seen them several goals ahead by half time. Like most sports though some days it is just not your day and Henley managed to score with their first shot of the game. Possession was well in Reading's favour as the team made some good passing and attacking moves. 0-1 at half time but possession was 75-25.
Second half started brightly with Rascals continue to battle. 15 minutes in to the second half, Henley made another attack and scored a second!
Rascals upped their pace a bit and continued to play the good flowing hockey they are getting used to but couldn't quite grab that elusive goal.
Rascals keep then made an excellent interception that stopped the score reaching 0-3 and Rascals pressed forward with 9 minutes to play.
A shot on goal was blocked by a Henley defender using his foot and Rascals were awarded a penalty flick. Oli Sayer stepped up and converted to make it 1-2. Rascals saw some hope and continued to press winning another short corner. This one was different to the 8 previous and although the initial shot was blocked the follow up was hit high in to the net by David Hudson! 2-2 with four minutes to play.
Nail biting stuff and when Henley pushed forward the ball was cut out and Oli Sayer ran half the pitch and was one on one with the defender. Should he have kept the ball and tried to go round the defender instead he laid the ball off to Chris Wright who was fast approaching down the right. Unfortunately the pass was a fraction hard and just out of Chris' reach.
More nail biting and in to the last few seconds when Rascals managed to win a short corner. Could they snatch a deserved win from the clutches of defeat 10 minutes earlier! Unfortunately there was no fairy tale ending and the game finished 2-2.
Both teams then retired to the bar for a tea of Dominio's pizza!
Rascals drop to 4th in the league with 10 points out of a possible 18.
