COLTS GENERAL INFORMATION:
Welcome to the new 2018/19 season which starts with our Open Day on Sunday 2nd September. Training times are shown further below on this page. Please allow enough time to park as the club house & grounds and Sonning Lane will be busy. Please see the main Colts Section homepage for full details.
Our youth hockey section is the ‘The Next Generation’ and we provide a safe and fun environment where young players from the age of 4 to 18 can learn and enjoy hockey. We are always delighted to have new young people join us. Enquiries: Colts@readinghockeyclub.org.uk
At all ages we provide a balance of training and hockey game/match play suitable to the age of the child which allows them to continually develop their skills and understanding of the game whilst enjoying themselves and taking exercise. No-one needs to have played hockey before as our sessions cater for all abilities. All that is required is the enthusiasm to want to get active and find out about hockey. Anyone can come along and join in 2 taster sessions before deciding whether hockey and Reading is right for them. We can provide hockey sticks for trial sessions. Mouth guards and shin pads are available for sale in the Hungry Hut.
Refreshments and snacks are available throughout the Sunday mornings at the Hungry Hut.
Our U12s to U18 compete in the Boys Mercian League and Home Counties Girls League. In addition these age groups compete in the England Hockey national competitions. Our Girls U18s are the current holders of the Girls U18 EH Cup. Many of our colts play adults hockey once they have reached the age of 14. Inclusion depends on ability, strength and space in the adults' teams. Please speak to your coach or the men's or ladies' club captains, if you are interested and see age group pages for information.
