Rebels: Reading 1 Marlow 0

By Reading Hockey Club • Oct 20th, 2008 • Category: L4, Match Reports

A very competitive match saw the Rebels record their 4th consecutive league win!!
With the normal multitude of players available – even after shopping leave had been granted for some – the Rebels had 5 subs raring to go.  After the initial skirmishes Reading started to dominate the possession, although the physical nature of the Marlow side took some getting used to!!  From the first short corner Sue Rogers put the ball out to Siobhan Davis, whose short scorched into the bottom left hand corner.  The Rebels continued to press forward, but could not find another goal.
In the second half the many substitutions seemed to disrupt the Rebels play and Marlow came into the game more and more, particularly through their left wing.  Ellie Smith made some very good saves and the defence worked hard to maintain a clean sheet. Siobhan Davis cleared one shot off the line and Cathy Cattermole made some great challenges to prevent further shots.  With Rachel Mann moving to the forward line (oh yes she did) and Lauren Minshull-Beech and Josie Wallace controlling the midfield, the Rebels held on for the win.
Played 4  – Won 4  – Goals for 16  – Goals against 0……
Keep it going Rebels!!
