L2A: Reading 2 City of Oxford 2By Reading Hockey Club • Nov 27th, 2008 • Category: L2A, Match Reports
The 2as first trip to our new home away from home venue Reading University. On arrival at the Uni I was greeted with parking only recognisable to a School Mum! For those who don’t spend a good part of their day negotiating those who follow the strict “School Mum Parking Rules of the Road” SMPRR for short, I’ll clue you in on some the Rules…
1.Yellow Line – you can park here sometimes
1.1Double Yellow Line – Parking at ALL times
2.Keep Clear Road Marking’s – the perfect parking space\
3.Parallell Parking – diagonal abandonment of car
4.Indicator’s – Optional extra’s
5.People Carrier’s – you can’t be part of this exclusive but terribly popular club without one
6.U35’s need not apply!
(So I fit in like a Hull supporter in North London, being that I have the ability to park and I’ve not lived through World War 2!!!)
Anyway back to the dreadful parking at the Uni, would appear Student’s have their own similar Parking Club! So having almost parked back at my house due to people following Rule 3 I did eventually make it to the pitch! Sadly are own game wasn’t dissimilar to the parking, good at going forwards but unable to stick it in the parking space (goal)!
Sadly very early on in the first half we lost Chloe; I didn’t see what happened as we had literally just started but the result is crutches and a badly sprained ankle ( get better soon Chloe.
The 2as where sadly a bit on the sleepy side this week, with a rather disastrous first half allowing City to take a 2-1 lead for far too much of the game. 2nd half Reading where a bit more alert and spent almost the whole half clamped in the City half, unfortunately only 1 goal came out of it. Although Reading did not play well for their very high standards it was a real shame they didn’t come away with the 3 points, which they didn’t deserve performance wise but did in terms of the amount of possession and play they had in the 2nd half, just wasn’t meant to be in this game. Which I think was obvious by the amount of times it hit the post!
Never mind, next week will be a different story….
