M4: Reading Musketeers 8 Indian Gym 1

By Reading Hockey Club • Jan 16th, 2006 • Category: M4, Match Reports

A new year ? a new team look, wobbly and we are not talking
stick skills!

The snow was falling when the whistle went and after 8
passes Jon T was in the D and wound up for a shot and topped it, dribbling past
the keeper. 1 ? 0 after 30 seconds.

After deciding that passing works, the team selected not to
do that again for a while any way. Chances fell, but unfortunately to the
forwards ? who seem to be more adjust to assisting with wayward shots than
actually getting them on target.

With the Musketeers defending well and keeping the Ind Gym
short corners out the game took a 20 minute goalless cold moment. Reading
eventually scored, going in 2 ? 0 at half time with Luz in goals having very
little to do, except short at the team and demand more, but what of we do not
know.

The team talk was brief ? stop mucking about and try to get
a few shots on target.

The second half began quick and Reading pushed hard and it wasn?t long before
the goals started coming. A spell of ten minutes saw 4 goals slotted in ? none
of them pretty! The best goal was number 8, with Sumo having a fair look at the
goal and seeing Ben on the line aimed at his head and scored! This was not to
be the last goal of the game, as Jerry OAP Cooke decided to use his leg to
prevent the ball going in the goal. Obviously Luz the GK was vexed as this may
have been his first clean sheet of the 21st Century.

Ind Gym sent Luz the wrong way ? good dive though.

So, game ended 8 ? 1, but the best was still to come: Ind
Gym hospitality.

The forfeit tin went to the Reading forward ? Jon T ? who is having more
luck with women than scoring goals AND that is hard to believe!
