L2: Marlow 3 – Reading 3

By Reading Hockey Club • Apr 8th, 2009 • Category: L2, Match Reports

Reading started the game in fine fettle and looked a different team to the one that met Marlow the previous weekend.

Decisive passing and great ball speed saw Reading able to apply early pressure by working the ball down the wings to open up the defence with some piercing crosses – alas Jenjer hit the keeper twice and we were still at 0-0.

A hungover Francesca Feather managed to lean down (without being sick) and tap in a lovely reverse to get the Dirty 2s on the scoreboard.

After a half time talk by the lovely Reece and of course the lovely Tino – we faced the second half full of sweeties and sound advice!

Chloe scored twice with brilliant solo runs – tippy-tappying the ball virtually the length of the pitch before blasting home past an immobile keeper.

Reading kept the pressure up and were unlucky not to take all 3 points as MeJulie hit the post.

The Dirty 2s had a lovely day and reminded themselves that passing, free flowing hockey was the way to go.

Team:  Lex, H, Holly, Evans, Melman, Witters, Suzi, Jos, MeJulie Jenjer, Ellie, Chloe, Laura and Francesca.

MOTM was Chloe – great shimmying and scoring of 2 wonder goals!

DOTD was Melman – water bottle – ‘nuff said!!

Thanks to the away crown of Sarah and Chloe & Ellies ‘rents – and to guest coach the lovely Reece and of course the lovely Tino.

The Dirty 2s have a double header this weekend as they meet Henley in another rearrange fixture on Sunday.
