L2A: Slough 0 Reading 5By Reading Hockey Club • Nov 11th, 2009 • Category: L2A, Match Reports
The day started off a little slow and confused due to losing our Captain as she covered a few of the other teams that day. Slightly confused if we had picked every one up who was meeting at the club, we got on our way to the hell hole that is Slough. The weather was perfect to play hockey in.
We were sat in the changing rooms discussing how it might actually be nice to win for a change and then I noticed the majority of the team putting on white socks. I did not have white socks with me.. Uh oh. I think we are starting fines next week
Any way so eventually we get out on to the pitch to get this party started.
Grace was away yet again off on some jolly.. BUT we managed to get an awesome stand in.. HEV woop woop.
So eventually we get going not really knowing what to expect. In the first 10 minutes we had a lot of possession, we were off to a good start. Our first goal came from a short corner. An amazing strike from Catterz!! I’m not going to lie there were some shocking decisions umpiring wise. Like the yellow card Tess received. I’m sorry but when trying to retreat and the idiot taking the free hit, hits it straight at you what can you do?
At half time we had a really positive feedback everybody was buzzing. We just had to keep it up.
We get off to a good start just keeping possession which was just making them plain angry. One of the Slough players received a yellow card (well over due) and actually couldn’t work out what was wrong with the wrestling move she had just tried to pull off on Josie (i think) Then when she had finally decided to stroll to the sin bin she muttered that she was going to lodge a complaint about the decision.. I’m sorry but you utterly deserved that.
Anyway we managed to then score another 4 times. Briony Anyon scored twice, I managed to pull one out of the bag finally and Tess also did with a pretty cricket shot!
Nice work ladies we totally deserved that! We played AMAZING. I think we have finally pulled together as a team. Their coach actually couldn’t understand why we had picked up only one point so far…
Scorers – Claire Cattermole, Briony Anyon x 2, Lucy Scott, Tess Lewinton
Just wanted to say thanks to Harri’s Dad and Emily & Josie’s Dad for their loud support
