Weekend Roundup 7/8 November 2009: The Joy of Six
By Reading Hockey Club • Nov 11th, 2009 • Category: BulletinBrooklands got on the wrong end of Reading this week. Firstly the Ladies travelled up to Cheshire and returned with all 3 points thanks to a 6-1 over Brooklands Poynton. Then Brooklands MU were hosted by the Men at Sonning Lane on Sunday and also suffered losing 6-2. Both our 1XIs face long trips up North this week and both are playing Bowdon and will be looking to deliver a repeat performance. The Ladies 1s have an epic weekend as they then must cross the Pennines to face Sheffield Hallam in the cup.
The Ladies 1As also joined in the fun beating Rover Oxford 6-0 at Sonning Lane on Saturday and then travelling to Bath on the Sunday to win their 2nd XI cup match 1-0. The Rustlers also joined in with six of their own in their 6-2 over Walton and Weybridge Hawks Vets. The Ladies 2As and 3As didn’t quite make the full six but both scored 5 goals in their victories.
The 2-1 wins for the Ladies 3s and the Rascals seemed almost workmanlike in comparison.
It was the Ladies 2s who had the only draw of the day in their local derby against Maidenhead.
Amongst the losers the Mens 2As and Ladies 4s were only just edged out 1-0, the Mens 2s went down 2-4 to East Grinstead and the Rovers 2-5 to PHC Chiswick. The refills had the wrong sort of six when they went down 1-6 to Teddington Saplings, the Renegades went even further losing 1-7 Richmond Lions and finally our newest team the Ladies 4As were no match for a strong Buckingham side losing 1-10.

Note Buckingham 2s who played the Ladies 4as where in fact majority South League standard players and have been thrashing every team by double numbers….the Ladies 4as are also the first team to score a goal against them! So well done the Rookies!
