Reading Veterans v Epsom 28th November (away)
A very hard fought game between two evenly matched sides neither of whom could establish any kind of dominance. Reading missed several chances before Epsom scored, and were one up at half time.
Epsom, who top the league, were determined to keep there unbeaten record and continued to stretch Reading’s defence but thanks to some excellent goalkeeper by Chris Miller, Reading were always in the game.
Following a short corner, Reading earned a penalty flick which was duly put away by Richard Higginson and shortly afterwards thanks to an excellent solo run by Tim Mann found themselves 2:1 up with ten minutes to play. Further opportunities should have put the game beyond Epsom’s reach but every shot by the Reading’s attack seemed to be aimed directly at their keepers pads!
With 30 seconds to go, Epsom were fortunate to be awarded a short corner and yes, you’ve quessed it, they scored and drew the game 2:2.
The Vets welcome Guildford, who are 2nd in the league, to RU next week at 13.30hrs
