Reading Colts Achieve Best-Ever Results at Regional Minis
Both the Reading U11 Girls’ squad and the Reading U13 Boys’ Squad achieved
‘best ever’ results for Reading HC in the Southern Region Mini Hockey finals
held today.
In the morning, the girls’ squad consisting of Heather Price, Evie
Tomlinson, Maddie Wynn-Jones, Helen Cattermole, Emma Gregory, Rebecca
Cadwallader, Jessamyn Nock and Katie Belcher won their pool, beat Teddington
HC in the semi-final and were then beaten by St. George’s Weybidge in the
final. Their sliver medal was a fantastic achievement and the best result
ever for a Reading side in this tournament.
Not to be outdone, in the afternoon matches the boys qualified 2nd in their
pool, beat Dr. Challoner’s School in the semi-final, and lost a tense and
very close final 1-0 to the holders Whitgift School. The silver
medal-winning squad consisted of Jonnie Ashby, Dominic Cooke, Mike Swerling,
Jason Passmore, Jonti Merry, Alistair Fraser, Matthew Cooke, Jack Hardy,
Alex Eatough and Cieran Codling.
