Bish Bash Blurghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
South Bucks 0 (0) – (4) 9 Reading
Well although the scoreline suggests otherwise we where not there at all for this game! How we ended up with a scoreline like this I’ll never know! What a joke!!!
Having played top of the league Hawks last weekend it was always going to be a tough contrast playing bottom of the league South Bucks. In my book made Bucks a bit of a threat, as we know we should walk all over them, which is never good!
We turned up all raring to go and up for the game, however I think it started to go wrong when Bucks ambled onto the pitch with only 10 players, they took the first push back and that was the last they saw of the ball for most of the half! We pressed at Bucks very hard having chance after chance and short corner after short corner, for some reason we just couldn’t put it away, which was more through our lack of finishing than SB’s good defending!
We did eventually find the net (however don’t remember it, my bad!) 1-0 Reading :o) Not long after and Nikki flicked the ball at the keeper getting it stuck in her legguards, as we prepared for the short corner the goalie decided that she needed to go off the pitch (errr wheres the commitment!!!) leaving her team with 9 players and having to face a short corner without her! Now thanks to the delightful new rule in which you don’t need a goalkeeper, all you need now is someone stupid who doesn’t mind someone firing a ball at their completely unprotected body!!! Would appear that South Bucks does indeed have one and luckily for them she donned the helmet (the only protection they need to wear) and there she stood!!! All I can say is thank god I didn’t have to battle with my conscious on whether to strike the ball at her or not!
We didn’t score from the resulting corner, just bumbled about a bit for a while! After about 10 minutes or so if us doing nothing but practise shooting at goal (badly) their goalkeeper decided that she was ready to come back onto the pitch (I was sooo confused!) so she did!!! She came back on and the kicking back moved back onto the pitch so they now had 10 players again! With the goalie back in place randomly another player turned up for Bucks now giving them a full team! (what is this game about!?!?!) For some reason we found it far easier to score now they had more players and wasn’t long before the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Reading goal went flying in :o) and for the record I didn’t score no matter what any of them may say!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :o(
Half time couldn’t of taken longer to come about with us in need of some serious regrouping!
The 2nd half started a bit more positively with a bit more passing and not so much need to take on every player! Unfortunately for us the more goals we scored the more we all decided to start playing centre forward! Not the best option, we completely lost our structure and ended up playing all on top of each other which stopped us from scoring more goals (coz we needed more goals!!!) We shovelled in a few more goals 5 to be precise! With Jen & the defence loosing the will to live and me dying from embarrassment at the hockey we where attempting to play, the final whistle finally went!
I’m probably being a tad harsh, we did have some good moments and scored some good goals when we where actually thinking about it. Was just a bit disappointing that we let ourselves get dragged down to South Bucks standard! To be fair to South Bucks they where very friendly and good spirited even though they know they where in for it right from the start :o) Which was lovely to see :o) though don’t think that helped our cause! Im sure we will all be much better for next weeks tough match against Wychwood, we drew with them in the first half of the season so we are defently up for getting maximum points off them this time round! :o) or ELSE the 2a’s are going to be in a whole world of trouble! ;o)
Squad: Jen (bored out of her brain) Sawyer (GK), Katharine Evans, Pip Tanner, Gem Notman, Sue Newman, Nikki Jones, Izzy Dodds, Bev Thompson, Abi Clarke, Nadia Amin, Lucy Scott, Laura Mulcahy, Briony “Egg” Newman
Goals:
Lucy Scott x 3 :o)
Nadia Amin x 2 :o)
Briony “Egg” Newman x 2 :o)
Laura Mulcahy x 1 :o)
Bev Thompson x 1 :o)
Dick of the day: Would appear we have more than one contender for this coverted prize…..
Pip Tanner – Who on actually being early to the game (have a word?) ;o) realised she hadn’t actually brought her socks or a skirt with her! Doh! Thankfully due to my own rubbishness I had Katharine’s spare Skort in the back of my car!
Izzy Dodds – Who after managing to dress Pip suddenly realised she too had not brought her skirt “but I know exactly where it is on my bedroom floor” but she did have spare socks which she lent to Pip!!!
Abi Clarke – Who injured herself moving her new wide screen TV earlier in the day and ended up only able to play barely 10 minutes before having to take herself home!
Then there’s Laura Mulcahy - We had a beautiful passage of play the ball came straight from the 16, Pip passing the ball beautifully to Nadia who picked up and ran through a few South Bucks players before arriving at the top of the D. From that point on everything seemed to be going in slow motion as Nadia was running with the ball, Laura suddenly appeared as if from nowhere, as she got nearer and nearer to Nadia I kept thinking wait a minute she looks like she going to tackle Nadia…noooo (I thought) not even Laura would tackle her own player would she? Ooooh crap yes she would! I don’t know who was more surprised Nadia or our opposition!!! ;o) hehehehe ohhh dearey me think that’s perfectly summed up the game!
Man of the Match: It has to go to Laura Mulcahy just for pure comedy value…certainly brightened up a truly boring game! :o)
Umpires: Tim Westacott :o) & sum cheery chappy :o)
Coach/Manager (for the day): Louisa Gueritz :o) excellent work organising my subs for me which I would of totally forgot about!
Crowd: Louisa also doubled up as our crowd along with whoever was sub :o)
