Super SundayBy Reading Hockey Club • Oct 15th, 2012 • Category: Events, Home Page, Match, News
The weather was kind to the good size crowd that turned out at Sonning Lane on Sunday for this season’s first double header – with both Ladies and Men facing Canterbury. Sadly the results didn’t quite live up to the sunshine, but the spectators were treated to some top quality hockey as both Canterbury sides showed why they are flying high in the league this year.
Firstly the Ladies played out an exciting 5-5 draw, with Reading coming from behind three times before sharing the points in the Investec Premier Division match. More details can be found in Hayley Munt’s match report.
Next week the Ladies face another stiff challenge as they travel to last year’s champions Leicester.
Next up the Men started slowly and went 2-0 down before pulling it back to all square by the break – but on a day when Reading couldn’t seem to get things going it was the visitors who capitalised on a couple of second half chances to take the points with a 4-2 win.
A disappointing performance on the day and the Men will be looking to bounce back next week at Brooklands in their last league match before heading off to the Euro Hockey League round 1.2 at East Grinstead on 26-28th October (Click here for details or visit the EHL website).
On a more positive note both Reading teams looked superb in their new adidas kit – great to see the sky blue return to Sonning Lane!
