Refills: Season Review

London League Division Two
Season 2006/07
Overall the season was a bit “up and down”. Although to be more precise the shape of a woman’s breast (“down up and down”) with a peak on Feb 3rd when we beat EG who ended up finishing 2nd in the League. There were a number of reasons for this shape:
Miller didn’t play much in the middle of the season (except for the game we lost)
Our 2 stars that had developed well from last year Tom B-P and Chris Cat were pinched by the 2A’s or went down with a long term illness at the end of season respectively
Miller played at the beginning of the season.
The youngsters that jumped up 7 leagues from last year took a bit of time to find their feet. When they did they made a huge impact and improved significantly over the course of the season (Mike Cat, Shiv, Ali P, Grant B, Ben C, Andrew M)
Miller played at the end of the season
The old stalwarts started to get injured. But thanks again for their efforts and leaving baby daughters, sons, nieces, nephews, on a Saturday afternoon. (You know you are.)
No other team would take Miller
Cookman played in the middle (I have to mention it or else he will kill me but he did got the whole season unbeaten)
Refills awards: The team with the most steady squad and therefore the captain with lowest pool meeting attendance. Only on the last game of the season did we have to borrow from other squads and if it wasn’t for the club captain taking Tom B-P we would have had the same pool throughout the season.
So that was the Refills this year, all set to hit the top of the League next.
PS Thank Miller for turning up; hopefully next year you will play in a game that we don’t lose.
Nick Hooper
Captain
