KS Pocztowiec Poznan 5 (2) – 3 (1) Reading HC
By Reading Hockey Club • May 25th, 2007 • Category: Home Page, M1, NewsNot a great start for the boys in Bloemendaal as the suffered a first day defeat to Polish side KS Pocztowiec Poznan. Simon Mantell opened the scoring for Reading but it was Poznan who went into half time leading 2-1 thanks to two strikes late in the half. Poznan extended their lead shortly after half time to leave Reading trailing 3-1 but two goals in two minutes brought Reading back on level terms thanks to Simon Lanyon and Richard Mantell. With the game finely poised and Reading gaining momentum it was the Polish side who were able to lift themselves again and two further goals gave them a 5-3 victory.
Reading now have a lot to do to progress in the tournament and their game tomorrow against Crefelder is crucial. The Germans also have 3 points after they beat Kelburne 2-1 in the tournament opener. Reading had to dig deep last year – and now they’ll have to do so again.
