Reading 2 – 1 Kelburne

This was an important match for both sides.  The result could mean the difference between playing for 3rd or playing for the wooden spoon.  Lying bottom of pool A a win was a must for Reading.  Two first half strikes from Richard Mantell gave the Blues the advantage but a Kelburne goal in the second half made it a nervy finish but Reading were able to close out the game and leap frog Poznan and Kelburne into second place in the pool.

There they will meet Bloemendaal again, the team they played in the final of The Cup Winners cup last season.  I am sure both of these sides would rather they were reunited in the final but Reading suffered for their slow start to the tournament and the home side saw their final dreams dashed with only 7 seconds to go in their game against Atletic Terrassa.  With a far superior difference thanks to their 9-0 drubbing of St Germain on Saturday, Bloemendaal needed only a point to progress.  However with the score at 2-2 and with practically the last paly of the game Santi Freixa struck to take the Spaniards into the final.

So it will be Atletic Terrassa against Crefelder in the final with Reading trying to overcome the home side for third place.  The full schedule of placing matches is:

08:00 KC Pocztowiec Pozman - Waterloo Ducks HC
