Reading Ladies 3a 1 Newbury & Thatcham 6

Newbury started very brightly and were awarded a penalty corner in the first few minutes which they converted to take a very early lead. They continued the early pressure and had a couple of good chances but were unable to increase their lead. The 3As were awarded a couple of short corners of their own and a couple of good chances which they failed to convert. Newbury increased the pressure and had a spell where they played some good attacking hockey during which they scored a couple of goals in quick succession to make the score 3-0. They also won a couple of short corners, one of which they scored to make the score 4-0. Towards the end of the 1st half, Reading played some better attacking hockey and had a couple of good chances followed by a short corner but were unable to convert then, leaving the score at half time as 4-0.

The second half strted with Newbury again attacking the Reading goal, with a couple of good chances before the 3As had a good chance of their own. Newbury increased the pressure again and created a string of chances and a couple of short corners, one of which they scored to make the score 5-0. The 3As responded well, playing some of their best hockey and had a couple of good chances and an unconverted short corner before Sophie scored for Reading to make the score 5-1. After an unsuccessful short corner for Newbury, Reading again had a couple of good chances, before Newbury completed the scoring to leave the score 6-1 at full time.
