Players Wanted

By Reading Hockey Club • Oct 22nd, 2007 • Category: Home Page, News

Ladies and Gentlemen,

As you may have been working out, the Men’s section of Reading Hockey Club is struggling. It is struggling because of a shortage of players at all levels, particularly from the 3s and down.

I have a list of 88 players who have, for all sorts of very genuine reasons, left the Club in the last 12 months. We only had 30 new players this season… and we have a new team to cope with. Me and the Captains are having a stressful time trying to ensure we fulfil fixtures with squads of 11/12, compared to 16/17 last year.

This is a plea for you to advertise the Hockey Club to friends, family, work colleagues or who ever to get them to dust off their sticks, cajoul them to move Clubs to us or even show them how to hold a hockey stick for the first time.

Please, put up a poster at work, or advertise on your intranets, or email your mates, or Facebook it. If you want a poster email me and I will send you one.

If you know anyone who is interested, and we dont care what there ability, get them down to training on Thursday evenings at 6.45pm start and find me. Alternatively get them to email Johnny Downer at johnny.downer@readinghockeyclub.org.uk

Equally, the ladies section also needs players, particularly upper middle level players at the 1As/ 2s standard, with some hockey experience is helpful. If you know of any ladies willing to join please get them to contact the Ladies Club Captain, Sue Newman, via sue.newman@readinghockeyclub.org.uk or come to training on Wednesday night at 6.30pm.

Help us to help you!

Love, Johnny and Sue
