Ladies 2a’s 19th Oct vs A&C away
After the magical mystery pot holed tour through Buckingham university to seemingly the oldest AstroTurf in the country Abigail and Frankie were overly keen and ran off in the warm up as Emma nearly face planted falling down a pot hole.
After a slow start we started to compose ourselves and wake up. We had some great passes up front and some great movement opening the game up from Frankie, Philippa, and Holly with great support behind from Abi, Helen C, Darcy and Amy. The pressure told as twice Reading should have been awarded a short corner but came away empty handed.
The opposition then started to become physical and the game became frustrating. Bev got mullered from 5 yards by a lifted ball producing a green elephant finger despite the protection of her glove.
After half time the team calmed themselves and became determined to win. Sadly the game became more unpleasant. The frustration became too much for Maddie and she produced a beautiful scream in anger.
Throughout the second half Reading continued to be dominant in possession restricting the opposition to a handful of breakaways. These were dealt with with some solid defending from Bev, Charlotte, Maddy, Emma and Georgia.
Against the run of play the opposition were awarded a short corner which appeared to be struck outside the D so the runners left it but the goal was given.
Reading continued to press but to no avail. Roll on next week to put this weeks disappointment away.
MOM and DOD tbc. However, this weeks chocolate brownies made by Amy were amazing! Pretty sure everyone had seconds. The bar has been set for next weeks DOD cakes!
