Wycombe 1 Reading Ladies 2s 5By Reading Hockey Club • Oct 20th, 2013 • Category: L2, Match Reports
Saturday 19th October. Reading 2s v Wycombe.
Today started with a sharp 9am meet in the changing room. Well for half the team anyway with the other half stuck outside like lemons for at least 15 minutes after being told they weren’t allowed in by some random dude who probably didn’t even work there. Steffi then had trouble using the door as it said it opened automatically so stood there for a further 10 minutes waiting for it to open. With the help of H she made it through the door.
Quick team talk due to the changing room smelling pretty bad and get out on to the pitch to lay the smackdown!
We got off to a slow but steady start by winning a short corner for Steffi to smash it home not before hitting their defender on the line before it went in to much of Wycombe’s disgust. Our second goal came Kovacs on the rebound. Which left us at 2 nil for half time, with our defenders doing a solid job.
Our secret weapon of half time haribo smurfs always seem to do the trick to push us in to the next half
Some great attacking play occurred which led to our next goal smashed home by Sophie Shakespeare. Which was quickly followed by them picking a hole in our game and claiming a goal back. Damn.
But that’s fine because our next goal came shortly after by being hit into to the circle for the goalkeeper to kick straight to LC to score the 4th goal. Our last but by no means least goal came from us winning a short corner for Sophie Shakespeare to drag flick home. The facial expressions from Wycombe were priceless.
A pretty tidy 5-1 win I’d say!
DOD a few contenders.. Steffi, Hannah’s dad Ian (told off by the umpire) Emily O (for taking a free hit on the football lines) but our winner Vicki Kovacs
MOM: Also a good few different votes but our winner was Sophie Shakespeare.
Thanks to our awesome coach Craven and our supporters!!
