Reading Men are national champions one again following their 2-1 defeat of East Grinstead at Sonning Lane yesterday. East Grinstead were Reading’s closest challengers coming to the game in the top of the table clash. Reading took an early lead thanks to an Andy Watts goal and held it until the 54th minute when Danny Hall equalised for the visitors. A point was all Reading needed to secure a second successive title but Andy Watts put Reading ahead again only 3 minutes later for the final score of the game. Reading now have an unassailable 11 point lead with only games away at Beeston and Havant to come.

Reading’s next challenge will be at the Euro Hockey League over Easter. They face Cannock on Easter Saturday in Round 2 and if they negotiate that will face either Rotterdam or Waterloo ducks on Easter Monday.
