Reading Ladies 4′s 2 – 1 Sonning Vets

By Reading Hockey Club • Apr 2nd, 2014 • Category: L4, Match Reports

Saturday 29th March

The sun was shinning, the crowds were gathering, and we had a full team with subs to spare. A battling team performance saw us running off (well OK running might be a bit of an exaggeration) as winners (goals S and Clare) and moved us off the bottom of the league table just at the right time of the season. Man of the match was Ant, but there were many memorable moments. Amongst them were: a late entry from Rachel in the SPLASH competition – she managed to fall over her own feet and roll in such a way that she nearly caused herself an injury; the glorious sound of thud against backboard from a short corner strike by Tracy – only for the eagle eyed umpire to rule that it was too high and so disallow it; and one of the best goals of the season from one of our players, with a master class display in how to divert the ball around the goal keeper – just a shame it was our goal keeper!
