Boys U14s host team from Stuttgart

The RHC U14 boys played host to a colts side from Stuttgart, Germany on the weekend of 16th-18th May. The Stuttgart team came to the UK during their school holidays, and arranged to meet up with the Reading lads in order to experience playing against an English team. On the Friday evening, the teams and parents/supporters all met at Sonning lane and a ‘friendly’ game of completely mixed German-English teams was held to help build bridges between the two teams.

On the Saturday, Stuttgart put in 2 teams and RHC one in the Mercian 30th anniversary tournament at Surbiton. All 3 teams fared well, with the Reading team in particular being unlucky to just miss out on the play-off rounds.

On the Sunday, full-blown matches between the Stuttgart and RHC teams were held, with Stuttgart this time coming out on top.

The weekend was completed by a big BBQ, supplemented by some great curry, all served up by RHC colts parents alongside the Sonning Lane pitch.

Much fun was had by all, with many new friendships made. So much so that plans are already afoot for a return fixture in Stuttgart next year !
