Reading Ladies 4′s 2 – 3 South Bucks Ladies 2′sBy Reading Hockey Club • Apr 14th, 2014 • Category: L4, Match Reports

Well done to all who played. From a 2-0 deficit at half time we fought back to level the game (brilliant goals by man of the match Jess – complete with new stick- and Tracy H) only to see the game snatched away by what must have been the lightest of glances ever felt by a hockey ball. Sarah, I and Ant harried and chased all game long, Laura linked well with attackers and defenders, Amanda M-B was solid in defence and added forward impetus whenever she could, whilst Grace showed a maturity and confidence that belied her age.
The same cannot be said of Tracy H and Tammy, who contrived to add the 4′s moment of the match. Winning a corner on the whistle of half time, Tracy and Tammy wisely conferred, called up the rest of the team but failed to communicate the master plan to anyone else – and most importantly, said nothing to the ball injector Sarah. Sarah does her job, slapping the ball hard to Tracy, only for Tracy to leave it for Tammy who, inexplicably also left it! Certainly a novel corner routine but not, perhaps, one to add to our repertoire.
