L1: Staines 2 Reading 0

By Reading Hockey Club • Nov 28th, 2007 • Category: L1, Match Reports, News

Reading had the opportunity to pick themselves up after their league defeat the previous day, by extending their cup run on the Sunday. Unfortunately coach Rhys Joyce had a difficult job lifting his girls after the previous days disappointment, and Reading started slowly, visibily lacking in confidence, which was something the buoyant home side, [...]

L1: Loughborough Students 2 Reading 0

By Reading Hockey Club • Nov 28th, 2007 • Category: L1, Match Reports, News

Reading endured another frustrating result on Saturday when they visited Loughborough University. Despite dominating the game, and the goal mouth chances, Reading once again failed to capitalise on their opportunities with Erin Ruxton going closest with a shot from a narrow angle. Once more Reading were to pay for their failure to convert [...]

L1: Reading 2 University of Birmingham 2

By Reading Hockey Club • Nov 20th, 2007 • Category: L1, Match Reports, News

Due to a quirk in the fixtures Reading hosted the University of Birmingham despite having only played them a few weeks ago. In their previous encounter Reading had won 3-0, but it hadn’t been comfortable with all the goals coming in the final quarter. This was always going to be a tough match, [...]

L1A: Southgate 2 Reading 1

By Reading Hockey Club • Nov 17th, 2007 • Category: L1A, Match Reports, News

I was asked to write a match report as the sole Reading supporter (and no idea of hockey rules and tactics) amongst the many Southgate supporters from the elevated balcony at a very chilly Southgate hockey club.
Reading lost a couple of players to the 1s but were out and playing with a passion from the [...]

U18 Boys: Havant 3 Reading 6

By Reading Hockey Club • Nov 14th, 2007 • Category: Match Reports, News, U18 Boys

18 Boys began the new campaign having waved goodbye to 10 of last year’s Cup Winning squad, and, after only 2 x 1 hour training sessions and no practice match, with some trepidation. Havant were formidable opponents first up - and early nerves were not helped by their apparent presumption that they were going to [...]

By Reading Hockey Club • Nov 13th, 2007 • Category: L1, Match Reports, News

(Thanks to special guest writer Becky Dru for this week’s match report covering in my wine fuelled absence…)
Within the Reading camp, everyone felt it was time to re-ignite the title chase, coming up against bottom of the league Harleston Magpies. Although Reading were without last week’s player of the match Ali Pope, the ‘Ding’ was [...]

With the juniors back in Cup action this weekend they set off to defend 2 trophies (boys U15 and U18) and go for a clean sweep of entries for this years finals day.
