Its all about the last games of the season!

LADIES 1XI UPDATE

The ladies 1xi were incredibly unlucky to have not come top of the league this season. It all came down to the last game of the season to decide between the top three teams : Reading, Stourport and Trojans.

Reading played their part by winning both their games convincingly by beating Swansea
3-2 and away at Cannock 5-0. Even with a 6 point weekend Reading had to rely on other results going their way, but unfortunately missed out on winning the league by 1 point missing out on a playoff place.

It was a hard well fought campaign to try bounce back up to national league, however this didn't happen this season the squad can hold their heads up high. Their season is not over yet where they still have their Tier 1 quarter final cup game versus Clifton away next weekend. We wish them every success in their quest for the cup.

MENS 1XI UPDATE

As with the ladies the men went into the last game of the season knowing that a win would secure a top 4 finish and a playoff place at Lee Valley. Due to the chaos of snow cancellations and rearrangements of games Reading only had one game whilst other teams had double headers. Reading were missing a number of players who were missing due to being at the Gold Coast for the Commonwealth Games.

A win against Wimbledon on Sunday would have secured 4th place. In a tight fought game against some ex Reading players Reading went 1-0 ahead into half time. Goals from Simon Mantell and Jonny Codling in the second half resulted in a loss for Reading and them missing out by one place.

The men also have a chance of retaining their England Hockey cup next week as they play Fareham at Sonning Lane in their quarter final game.

Both teams this season have had a lot of new players into the squads and for them to achieve what they have has been a credit to their hard work and commitment.

Here's to the cup!
