It all comes down to this !!!

Playoff Weekend for the Ladies

This weekend sees the Ladies 1’s going up to the Olympic park to play in the Investec Playoff Finals.

It was a nail-biting finish to the regular season, with the Ladies having to win their last game and hoping that Holcombe would either lose or draw.
Luckily for Reading, the results went our way with a thumping 3-1 win over Leicester and League winners Surbiton drawing with Holcombe.

This meant that the Ladies came fourth in the League, after being in the bottom half of the league at Christmas, and join Surbiton, Canterbury and Clifton in the Playoffs, to see who will be crowned the Investec League Champions.

Captain Emma Thomas says “ We are really excited to take on Surbiton on Saturday, and particularly at the Olympic park which had a great atmosphere for the men's playoffs last weekend. Surbiton are a quality team and have had a great season, but we are really pleased with how we have progressed, particularly over the last 6 weeks or so.
We are a team that loves a big occasion and has a lot of experience in situations like this, so we're full of belief that we can get a result if we put in the type of performance we are capable of.”

The Ladies take on the league winners Surbiton in the first semi-final playoff game at 14:15 on Saturday 18th April.
Although Surbiton were unbeaten in the league, this will not deter our Ladies in going all out for the win

Merijn van Willigen believes that “ Playoff games are a unique experience in that they require a cup-like 'winner takes all' attitude. We have a lot of players within our team who have achieved success under those circumstances, and I am confident that we have a chance to beat any team we meet on our journey”.

Canterbury take on Clifton in the other semi-final at 16:30

Depending on the outcomes of both games will determine who will be playing in the 3rd / 4th playoff at 13:00 on Sunday or the Final at 15:15.

The Ladies are determined to put the disappointment of finishing fourth in last years playoff behind them and to show their followers that they are a force to be reckoned with this weekend.
