DAN Shingles believes Reading can spring a surprise by winning the EH Cup.
The Blues face Surbiton in the final at the Lee Valley Centre on the
Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park on Saturday (3.30pm).

They are clearly the underdogs, having finished sixth in the Premier
Division, a massive 25 points behind their rivals who ended the season level with winners East Grinstead but with a slightly inferior goal difference.
Reading also lost both league games to Surbiton.
But Shingles recalled: "We played well in both matches. Surbiton are a strong side and have had a good season. They will be difficult
opposition, as they have goal threats from all over the pitch Matt
Daly and Alan Forsyth up front are scoring great goals, as is
Chris Grassick from midfield; so they can score goals from
anywhere. They will certainly be a tough test.
"Fingers crossed, we can can put it all together and, if everything
goes right for us on the day, there is no reason why we can't beat
them in the final despite the fact they finished above us in the league."

England international Shingles said: "It has been a really good
achievement to get there. We were a bit up and down in the league, so it is nice to have a long cup run."
Reading have reached the final without playing at Sonning Lane, with all five ties being away.
"Four of them were against other Premier Division sides, so we have
taken a fairly difficult route, racking up quite a few miles along the
way." added Shingles.

The 28-year-old midfield player is delighted the final is being held
at the new permanent home of England Hockey in east London, a legacy of the 2012 Olympics.
He said: "Lee Valley is a fantastic venue and all of us are looking
forward to playing there. I've played in a couple of internationals
there. It is a great setting. It is nice to have ; somewhere we can
call our home stadium and hopefully there will be quite a few people there watching.
"There are other games there as well on the day, so it should be a
really good occasion for all hockey fans."

Saturdays will see five national cup finals, starting at 9.30am, with
Reading and Surbiton being the fourth of them.

The Reading club are also involved in a cup final at the same venue on Sunday with their over-50 side taking on Harleston Magpies in the Masters Over-50s competition at 11am. Blues have several former England and GB internationals in their squad, including 56-year-old Richard Dodds, who led GB to the gold medal in the 1986 Olympics in Seoul, and goalkeeper Simon Mason, the England Hockey Board president.
