and some big Thank yous.....

Congratulations to all the nominees at this years End of Season Awards Dinner.
It was a great evening, held at the Coppid Beach Hotel – Thanks to Sam Howells and Hannah Rigby for organising it all.

You can see all the nominations for the awards on the website, but here are the winners for all the awards:

A huge thank you to all those individuals that have made this season so great and without them, it simply wouldn’t be possible.
Jo Newman our fabulous pitch coordinator, Karen Dixon and the catering team, all of the coaches and volunteers and all those that have helped umpire.

A special thank you must go to Chris Withers who is stepping away from the club and his role as umpire coordinator to be with his family after many years at the club. A torturous role at times but Chris leaves a big hole to fill. A huge thank you to all.

Finally, a huge thank you from the club and all of us must go to Chris Davey, Andy Watts and Jonty Clarke who are stepping away from the 1st XI after many years. They have all been instrumental to our success over the years as we have won leagues and cups and followed the 1st XI on their European adventures.

The Peter Williams Award - Chris Davey
This award is presented to the Overall RHC Club member of the year and represents the dedication and service to the club and has just stepped down as Mens 1st XI manager, a role he had for 12 years, and which he will be hard to replace.
He always has the club at heart, and hopefully will be able to turn out for a few more games next season now he has hung up his Managers mantel.
Congratulations to Chris on his award.

Holt Cup – Clare Maidlow
The Holt Cup is presented to the Ladies overall club member of the year – this is awarded to a person who has stood out in their commitment and dedication to the club over a number of years, and this can be said of the recipient of this years award. She has been with the club for 21 seasons so far ….

Not only is she dedicated to the club, but she has made it a real family affair - from her father Les doing some coaching and assisting the umpires with his support from the side-lines, to her Mum serving teas and coffees in the Hungry Hut on Sunday Mornings, not forgetting her and husband, Simon coaching and helping out at games and tournaments with the U6, U8’s and U10’s with her daughter Lily playing in the teams.

Clare will never say she is the most talented of players! But what she lacks in tackling skills, she makes up in her support for the ladies section and club. She has captained sides, helped young team mates take on roles in the team, helped with fundraising, volunteered regularly at the Jazz and Ale Festival and supported many other club events.

A deserved winner who epitomizes what the Holt Cup stands for.

The Ravi Ghowry Goalkeeping Award – Tommy Alexander
Sponsored by Mercian

Tommy has been an exceptional asset to the club this season, performing highly whilst playing for the 1st XI he earned a call up to the Scotland senior team helping them achieve 3rd place at the World League.
With his goal keeper academy for the colts on a Monday night, the goalkeepers have learnt an awful lot whilst he has made them work hard but they have also had lots of fun and they all love it!
