Nobody can do everything, but everyone can do something! It can't run without you!!

As the season starts to draw to an end, we are reminded of how much time and dedication our club members actively engage with to help club function at it is best. Over the next few weeks some of our committee will be stepping down and handing over the baton.

Those people’s service and dedication to their roles have been paramount to helping us achieving great success and I hope you would join me in saying thank you for their time, commitment and service to the club.

Over the next few weeks we will be looking to find volunteers, helpers and teams to help us fill these key vacant roles for next season. Each role with go through a transition and mentoring phase with the current role holder.


The following committee roles have now become available:

Ladies Club Captain - Georgia Boother

The ladies captain heads up the vision and strategy for the ladies’ section. You will lead and coordinate all levels of playing and operational requirements and be the key stakeholder for the section.

Key responsibilities:
• Create a wider vision for the section and its performance within the club vision and strategy set by the committee.
• Set and lead the structure and objectives of the teams and coaching staff.
• Coordinate the playing selection policy and hold regular selection pools meetings
• Liaise with the colts’ captain on colt development within the adult section.
• Be the budget holder for resources and funding.
• Be the ladies voice and representative at meetings – both internally and externally.

Hockey Treasurer – Peter Sherrell

Treasurer is a vital role to the club and is an opportunity for a team of financial heads to come together. This role has many touch points from income and expenditure to budgeting and reporting. Financial experience is not necessary but desirable.

Key responsibilities:
• Generate a full year forecast model.
• Review Subscriptions and match Fee submission sheets on a monthly basis
• Ensure all expenditure is properly authorised by Section in compliance with guidelines issued by General Committee and Club Rules
• Report Section financial performance to the Section Committee
• Completion of Section Annual Budget model prepared by Treasurer and review with Section Chair and Club Treasurer
• Liaise with the club book-keeper on transactions, section reports and year end.
• Coordinate any banking mandates.

Commercial Liaison - Richard Dixon

Club funding and sponsorship is vital to the clubs playing success and maintenance of our facilities. The commercial liaison will work with the Chairman and the committee to develop our network in the community and bring key resources and funding to the club. This role has many focus areas including: First XI teams, general club, facilities, business partnerships, community schemes and grants and fundraising opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:
• Act as the lead on point contact for all sponsorship and partnerships.
• Generate leads and opportunities to work with business’s and community partnerships
• Generate revenue and income to support the club

Catering and /or Bar Manager - Karen Dixon

This role supports players and teams with game day! Your role is to ensure our high level of kitchen and bar facilities, match teas and function support. You will be responsible for booking catering teams and staff to support game day and club events primarily.

Key Responsibilities:
• Act as lead on point on all catering and bar management – including staff.
• Manage the purchase of all food and bar needs.
• Maintain our health and safety and hygiene reports.
• Drive function opportunities with the functions coordinator
• Drive bar and food sales
• Be available to support catering staff across busy weekends

This role can be split and job shared.

The following NON committee roles have now become available:

Umpire Coordinator - Liz Spencer

You will be the lead coordinator for facilitating the umpiring requirements of the adults sections of the club.

Key responsibilities include:
• Arrange umpires for home matches across the adult section.
• Liaison with Berkshire and South Umpires Association.
• Help generate a umpire development programme for new aspiring umpires.

Membership Secretary - Fran Harvey

This role is pivotal to capturing all the data we need to help new players join the club and to help existing members with account problems.

Key responsibilities include:
• Be the club on-point for database and membership queries.
• Co-ordinate and help the set up start of the season.
• Check club subscriptions inline with the club membership policy.
• Aid the support of fixture changes with the database.

Functions Coordinator - Vacant: speak to Liz Spencer

Key Responsibilities:
• Act as lead on point on all function management.
• Liaise with the bar and catering manager on functions and events
• Maintain the club booking system of rooms and facilities within the club house.
