A hard fought point
Late equaliser rescues point.
It was a memorable day as Joe Chedd and Louis Gittens were making their debuts. To mark the momentous day Louis decided to show his loyalty and wore a EG sweatshirt.
After an extended warm up due to a team playing on the wrong pitch, the play got underway. Reading had a bright start and It was as if Alun Lloyd had never been away by deflecting In from a short corner at the far post, 1R1 for those who read their emails, Reading then managed to close out a strong first half and went into the break 1-0 up. However, Reading couldn't make their momentum count as Surbiton went onto score from a short corner. Surbiton then built the pressure and managed to get successive corners finally resulting in a P flick as Pete Roseff got struck on the line. Surbiton then converted the flick to go onto lead 2-1. Then against the run of play Reading turned the ball over in the Surbiton 25 and after a sharp bit of link up play from San Howells and Nick Park Nick Park scored to bring the game level. Then as the game was coming to an end Pete played that pass... And as a result to the shock of the side Simon Culmer picked up a card which must be the first of his career.
The game finished 2-2 and MoM=Sam Howells/Alun Lloyd DoD= Simon Culmer
