Redsox took on and devoured a tricky Haggis team

2 years ago By Tim Armitage

But nearly threw it all up on during the Scottish reels

A hard fought home fixture saw the 12 strong Redsox squad see off the fairly
mixed bag of a Haggis side in good style.

After an early flirtation with the Redsox Bodders and some of the Super Vets
choose to play for others table which was a shame but the mixed squad soon
got in their stride. Hamish served up some tasty Cock-a-Leekie soup passes
across the goal mouth which Tim and Micky dispatched with relish early on in
the game before the Ladies showed their class, led by Helen's spirited but
unintelligible Dutch-Scottish Robbie Burns Ode delivery to the far post
which Laurie knocked home just before half time.

Rage & Tim (sadly without his trombone) led the boys into the second half
with a fine rendering of Loch Lomond before the girls helped the team
accelerate smoothly away from the barely breathing Haggis side with a finely
executed the Skype Boat song.

The Redsox then tried to throw the remainder of the game away with some
outstandingly poor footwork during the reels, Vicky managing to skewer
herself on her own stiletto before the men sent most of the ladies flying
off the pitch in an unusually named "basket" manoeuvre which was supposed to
see the ladies rise elegantly off the floor (although the flashy Hoopers who
applauded loudly for a near miraculous solo version of the basket lift).

Despite winning nothing in the raffle the Redsox were relieved to see Alan
Wade win the sumptuous business card holder the squad had generously donated
as a prize.

During the closing stages of the match a few of the squad the performance
went rapidly downhill as various team members were lost missing in action,
circulating in the wrong direction in every great chain or simply mesmerised
by Rage's display of his two left feet in the Dashing White Sargent and
Strip the Willow; although it was noted that the team made a late rally for
the Eightsomes during which the remainder of the Haggis, including entrails,
was dispatched onto the rubbish heap.

All in all a hazily memorable performance that leaves the race for both the
league title and the Top Gun of the season very much in the balance. Big
thanks to John Sayer and Sarah for a fine Burn's Night - some snaps

We are away at Wimbledon next week and need a top quality side to ensure the
three points as well as deal with the personalised Pierre Cardin toiletries
in the plushest club house in the London League - so please let Barite know
your availability.

Och aye the noo.
