Redsox too good for Old Kingstonians
By Tim Armitage
Almost across the line
A couple of late additions, including Mace (early return from SA) and Amrish (no Spencer game), made for a strong Redsox 14 for the game at OK’s. There was much relief in the warm-up that we had some midfield and attacking players and after the slip-up at Richmond the week before it was important to get off to a good start and this is exactly what happened…
The team gelled well in the first quarter and created a number of chances and were 4-0 up in 20 mins. A mixture of some great team goals finished off neatly by Tim A (x2) and Paxo and a shot from Keevy that nearly took the GKs head off!
While Redsox continued to dominate the precision and accuracy of the passing began to drop (including one memorable one from Mace) and OK’s got a goal back before HT.
OK’s then scored first in the 2nd half and it looked like the Redsox were going to do what England rugby managed to do later and throw the game. However, these fine men kept playing some good hockey even if the final pass just didn’t quite create the chances. Then, finally, a flowing move ended with Ben walking the ball into an empty net.
Overall a solid performance, but, with Richmond winning, we still need 1 point from our last 2 games to win the league.
Many thanks for Mike for making the trip and umpiring so well.
While we obviously don’t have a selfie we do have a top gun list…
