Becky Halle on the score sheet.

Written by Dave Wright - Reading Post

Goals from Tina Evans and Becky Halle early in the second half earned Reading their first away win of the season in the Investec Women’s League.
It was Welsh international Evans’ first goal for the Blues, but Halle was probably even more pleased to see her name on the goal sheet.
The previous week she netted in the 3-1 win over Buckingham, but for some reason her goal was credited to Alex Danson in the official match statistics.
“I was pleased to see Becky get her goal,” said coach Merijn van Willigen. “She put in her usual hard-working performance.”
He was equally delighted for Evans, who missed the start of the season through injury.
“I was really happy for Tina as she has been sidelined for a few weeks. She gives us an extra option at penalty corners,” added Willigen.
Their first win of the season a week earlier saw Blues travel to Cheshire in a confident mood, while skipper Emma Thomas passed herself fit despite nursing a broken finger.
Blues started off where they had left off against Buckingham and dominated the first 20 minutes.
They earned a number of penalty corners and also created scoring chances, but they then started to lose some of their impetus as half-time approached.
“We spoke about this at half-time and we started the second half much better,” added Willigen.
And they did not have to wait long for their opening goal with Evans converting a penalty corner in the 42nd minute.
The goal gave Blues an extra boost and two minutes later they doubled their lead courtesy of Halle.
But they missed chances to extend their advantage, while their defence repelled all Bowdon’s efforts to get back into the game.
Willigen said: “It was comfortable in the end and we could easily have won by more. It was good to win two games on the bounce and hopefully we can make it three this Saturday.”
Blues, who have moved sixth in the table, take on Beeston at 1.30pm at Sonning Lane on the 18th October
