One over on GX!
fabulous 4s gain momentum
Unluckily Henri had to call off sick, down to 13.
BUT, the pitch wasn’t frozen and it wasn’t raining!
However couldn’t get on to the pitch as the code for lock had been changed.
Call to Fran for the new code and we were in!
Just before the start, call for a change of socks as Navy socks & Royal blue socks was too close.
Gerrards X didn’t have their change as they thought they wouldn’t need them (even though we changed when we went to their place), so once again we had to make the change.
Grumbles all round, but we did it.
It would seem that being annoyed at the start of the match works well for us. We played some really good hockey which resulted in three rather good goals. First from Anne and then a tip in from a short corner strike from Nett.
Gerrards X pulled one back thanks their forward’s leg and an unsighted Umpire, making it 2 – 1.
A Liz ‘special’ – reverse stick flick over the goal keeper – made it 3 – 1. A further goal from Gerrards X, and the half time score was 3 – 2. Five goals in the first half! That I think surprised most people.
Unfortunately the goals didn’t continue like the first half – in fact there weren’t any. We still played some nice hockey, although as we tired, it didn’t flow as well as in the first half. The defensive unit including MOM stood solid and we held off the Gerrards X attack. The midfield worked tirelessly backing up the defense. There were still breaks for our forwards and some close calls, but the final score was 3 – 2. A valuable victory for the 4’s.
With two Birthdays in the gang; Liz & Heidi, there was cake and candles and singing. Great cake (thanks Liv), impressive candles, but the singing…
