London League Awards evening

Reading beat off 2nd placed Hampstead & Westminster and 3rd placed Southgate to win the prestigious London League Club of the Season at tonight's Awards Evening.

Helped by respective league wins for the Refills and Supervets and runner-up slot for Redsox, Reading were comfortable club winners. A great end to an award winning season all round for Reading Hockey Club.

Lionel officially retired this evening from his league administrator role, a position he has held since 1994 and was given fitting thanks and a £1000 voucher from all tje league clubs to enjoy at his beloved Royal Opera House. It is estimated he has overseen over 1000 fixtures in each of his seasons as administrator and helped the London League secure its place as the premier hockey league in the country.

Big thanks to fellow Redsox, Hamish Pringle, for joining me at the Awards Evening - next year it would be good to see a really strong Reading turnout for the Awards event.

Looking forward to seeing many of the Vets at the Summer League fund raising matches in May and June.
