L2A: Reading 13 Abingdon Pilgrims 1 15/04/2007
Reading 13 - 1 Abingdon Pilgrims
Once upon a time there was 13 little hockeyettes (ive no idea where im going with this either!!!) Jen, Karen, Bee, Gembolina, Baps, Nooman, Kaffrin, Bev, Jez, Duracell Bunny, Nadia, Moosie & Laura! They all arrived one sunny morning at a quiet little place in a cute little village called Sonning. After a brief press photo shoot beforehand (well it is a story) ;o) they set about preparing themselves for the slightly large task of making sure they won the game thus winning the league title! A big task indeed!
Their visitors for the afternoon where a small but tough team called Abingdon Pilgrims! The pink people (also known as umpires) blew their whistles for the start of the match, Pilgrims started with the ball and Reading set about retrieving it almost instantly! The 11 Sky Blue dressed peeps worked well in the first half of the game but didnt quite manage to put away as many goals as they perhaps should of done. Think it was only 4-0 at half time? Rubbish!!!
We did slightly fall off the rails briefly before half time with a rather shocking attempt at playing the sport we call hockey! Thankfully we got over that brief blip and made sure we made up for it in the second half! Which we sooooooo did
)
When we reached the 6-0 mark not long after the second half resumed I had a little thought (I know im surprised when I think too!) we had reached the 99 goals scored this league season mark, was thinking well its going to finish like this isnt it, just short of 100! Man I couldn’t of been more wrong!!! As the next 7 fired their way into the back of the net! With 1 reply from Pilgrims! Gosh, yet again found ourselves in serious goal scoring mood, with Moosie greedily taking 5 of them, to (I think) make her the leagues top scorer and who knows maybe club (though a stinky boy has probably robbed her to that title) !!! ;o)
The peeps in blue kept chucking everything (including the kitchen sink) at poor Abingdon from start to finish, unfortunately there was no stopping us on our day and even if theyd had 22 against us I think we where so determined we would of found our way through! Which is certainly no disrespect to Pilgrims, who certainly where gracious in defeat
) and they deserved their goal
