The first session for the Reading HC U14 (i.e. U13 and U14 as at 01/09/2007) Boys for the 2007/8 season is Sunday 9th September 2007.
Training sessions continue until April/May depending on how well we progress in the leagues and cups in which we enter…
All training sessions are held at RHC’s Sonning Lane water-based astro from 11.00-12.30 every Sunday. Please arrive at 10.45 for registration. NEW MEMBERS ALWAYS WELCOME !
If you are a new member, please check with the coach before attending a session to ensure the entire squad are not away at a match !

Highlights from the 2006-7 season include:
Winners, Mercian U14 West league
Winners, Berkshire U13 minis
Runners-up, Havant U14 minis tournament
4th place, Mercian regional play-offs
4 players from the U14s in the Reading HC Boys U15 squad that won the EHA National Knockout Cup
2 players representing the South West at the National Regional tournament
For the 2007/8 season, The U14 Boys consists of the following squads:
U14 Boys A – as winners of the Mercian West league last season, this squad has qualified to play in the inaugural U14 Mercian Premier league
U14 Boys Development - this squad plays in the Mercian West Development ‘friendly’ league
U13 Boys - this squad will represent Reading HC in the Berkshire Mini hockey tournament in March 2008 (where we are the holders), and then hopefully in the South Regional Mini hockey champs in April.
Other: Participation in other tournaments, e.g. Havant U14 minis, SJB U13 minis, Slough U14 mixed, etc.
Training arrangements:
Please ensure you have trainers/astro shoes, shin pads, gum shield, and something to drink. Please bring appropriate clothing – warm clothes and wet weather gear may be necessary – we train rain or shine.
Please arrive at 10.45 to ensure a prompt start at 11.00
Communication:
E-mail will be the primary method of communication. Please make sure you inform the coach immediately if your e-mail address changes. If you are confused or unsure of the situation re a given match or training session, call the coach !
Coaches:
Ian Ashby will have overall responsibility for coaching the U14 Boys. He will be helped most weeks by other coaches, all of whom have played hockey for many years and to a high standard, and all of whom also have boys in the group ! If you have any questions or concerns about any aspect of training or hockey in general, do please contact the coach directly.
Subs & Permission Forms
ALL players need to complete permission and medical forms. The best way to do this is to see Siobhan Davis and her team at the registration desk on Sunday mornings. The registration form also gives details of subs and how to pay them – we need your money for the new astros !!
