Umpire Development at the Club

As we all know umpires are in short supply and the pressure on current umpires and players to umpire games is increasing.

The club is supporting a new Umpire Development Programme that is looking to improve, increase and develop umpires at the club.

The aim is to :
• Improve our current umpire’s abilities
• Become better Players
• Help players and spectators to understand the rules
• Increase Respect with Players and Umpires alike
• Build Club Spirit and Unity
• Increase the number of available umpires in the club
• Create a Third Team Community
• Improve our standing in the wider umpire community

We are going to do this by:

Increasing the number of Coaching and Assessment Opportunities for our umpires to be coached and be assessed.

There will be more Information Sharing; Encourage discussions, sharing information and creating a place to go to with questions

Building and encouraging people to join our Umpiring Community, where you can be an active member of the Third Team to help and support each other

And hopefully improving the umpire Coordination of games by ensuring that the right umpires are on the right games.

We are also building a database of information to help support new and established umpires

Level 1 Online Umpire Course
England Hockey are currently running reduced price Level 1 Umpire courses ( 2.5 hours online for £30). This is a fantastic opportunity for players, coaches and parents alike to get a qualification and increase their knowledge of the rules.
