The GMA side had another win away at St Albans but the story could have been slightly different as with push back time reached, only two Rustics had arrived on pitch the rest were stuck on the M25. Special thanks to the St. Albans side for delaying the start until we had nine.
With several regulars helping out the Redsox and Peter Who still missing, The play was not up to recent weeks but we soon went ahead from a corner as Bob spun to the right to set up man of the match Lauro, who drove home with style.
Just before the break Charles made it two from another corner.
St Albans pressed without making many chances and the defence held firm as Boothers made three good stops from short corners to keep us ahead.
St. Albans came more into the game in the second half and scored from a short corner that gave Boothers no chance, that's no chance unless he closed his legs together! But we forgave him as he has been outstanding this year.
The two goal advantage was restored as Micky tapped the ball over the line from yet another corner. It may have only been nine inches but it was enough to secure him the seasons leading goal scorer for the Rustics and leave Jerry one goal behind in second place. Well done all!
This was the final GMA game of the season and the win ensured we finished as runners-up to Indian Gym – a great season and a much deserved second place (just a shame we had to give Bromley a w/o).
