FAQS

What do I need to bring with me?
Each player should bring the following items with them:

Hockey Stick
Suitable footwear - trainers or astro shoes
Shin Pads
Gum Shields
Suitable clothing for all weather conditions such as: Sun cream, waterproofs, hats etc

Loss and damage of valuable items is at players own risk and not of Reading Hockey Club. There is no lockable facilities and players who do bring such items do at their own risk. Parents/Guardians are expected to drop off and collect children at the beginning (Camp registration 9.30am) and end of camps 4pm.

Are refreshments provided?
Each player attending the camp must come with their own packed lunch.The Hungry Hut's Tuck Shop is open at lunchtimes during the Summer camps.

Who are the coaching staff?
All courses will be led by Olly Deasy's team of experienced and qualified coaches alongside the support of the Reading Hockey Club 1st XI teams. Our coaching line up across all the camps also includes coaches who have come up through Reading Hockey Club’s Young Leaders Programme.

How are groups allocated?
All players are divided into groups according to age and ability in the first instance.
Players will be constantly assessed by their group coach; enabling quick and correct decisions to be made on the most suitable group or team for the players playing ability - This will maximize enjoyment and progression whilst minimizing injury risk at all times.

How much does the CLASSIC & READLINGS* camp cost?
1 Day = £45
2 Days = £85
3 Days = £125
4 Days = £165
5 Days = £200
*Please note Readlings camps are 2 days only for Half Term and Summer camps

How much does the PERFORMANCE, PERFORMANCE PLUS & GOALKEEPING camp cost?
1 Day = £50
2 Days = £90


How do I pay?
Please make payment either by:

  • a bank transfer - using the player’s initial, surname and camp attending as a reference eg J Bloggs SCC3 for the Summer Classic Camp 1 in w/c 5 August 2019, or JBloggs SUMMER for multiple camp bookings; or
  • by sending a cheque (payable to RCHC Camps) with the player's name and camp reference (eg J Bloggs SCC3 for the Summer Classic Camp 3 in w/c 5 August 2019, or JBloggs SUMMER for multiple summer camp bookings) written on the reverse to Reading Hockey Club, Sonning Lane, READING, Berkshire, RG4 6ST. Please mark your envelope FAO Judith Barton Colts Section.

What information will I get once I have successfully placed a booking?

Once you have registered your child/children, you will see an instant message confirming the child’s registration details. If you wish to make any changes before the course please contact us directly on camps@readinghockeyclub.org.uk and advise us of the alterations.

How do I get a refund or make a cancellation?

In the event of course cancellation by Reading Hockey Camps, all monies will be refunded. If the Player cancels less than 7 days from the start of the course there will be 75% refund. If the Player cancels more than 7 days from the start of the course a full refund will be given. If you want to cancel or change your booking please email camps@readinghockeyclub.org.uk

Can I provide feedback?

Feedback is very important to us in raising our standards and making the camps as enjoyable as possible for your children. We would welcome your thoughts on the whole process from booking through to how the camp was delivered and the facilities.
