Congratulations to....

Performance Colts

Nick Park
2015/16 was Nicks first full season of hockey. He made his Men's 1s debut and was an influential player in the under 18's. This year Nick has been the leader and leading force of BU18 in training and in play, committing to every match, putting every effort in and driving the squad forward. He has remained in the Men's 1 squad and played several matches for M1s this season. His skills and pace are the envy of colts who are looking to him as the example of what path to follow. In addition, he's always willing to help, be that with other men’s teams on a Saturday, summer league or on car park duty so it's not just about reaching the performance squad for him.
Mila Welch
GU16 NAGS player and must be the youngest ever girl at 15 to play Ladies First team on a regular basis. She has been completely outstanding when she has been able to play for our top GU16 team.

Colt of the season
Ellie May
GU16 Captain, who has been prepared to play out of position to help the team at the back, and has been a regular attendee at both ladies (1as and 2s) and colts all season. She is a good example of what you can achieve as a colt if you are prepared to put the time in with the ladies’ section too, not just with her own technical ability, but also knowledge of the game. Ellie is also a Young Leader who has contributed extensively to the Colts Minis for the last two seasons.

Most Improved players
Nathan Warwick (BU14)
Nathan turns up each week, hardly misses any training or a match and quietly gets on and listens to coaching points and has developed into a hugely reliable and tenacious left half. He works extremely hard both in training and matches and his improvement is marked and substantial.
Maisie Sterns (GU14)
Maisie has been part of the Prem and league squads and has shown a true understanding of the game, - she is naturally athletic and very hard working, also a delight to have on the team.
Nora Shields (GU14)
Nora has been part of the league team all season and has demonstrated great versatility in playing different positions on the field, committing to any challenge placed on her.

Young Leaders of the Season
Lucy Dawson

Lucy is a Young Leader who has attended on a regular basis just about every week. She provides effective coaching making her popular with the Minis. She's been great to work with and provided good assistance to coaches and management alike.
Harrison Reed
The YL who turns up regularly and has coached, umpired at TVMs and In2H tournaments, served in the Hungry Hut as well as pointing directions in the car park. Always cheerful and helpful, doing the jobs others don't often volunteer for. He’s been a revelation this year.

Team of the Season
GU18 Prem
HCGL Prem winners again and the team has reached the GU18 EH Cup final having beaten Surbiton in the QF and Wakefield in the SF. This is best run at an EH competition any colts team has had.

Coaching Team of the Season
GU14 – Led by Hannah Knott, the coaching team have developed a squad with great depth. GU14 Prem have reached the finals of the HCGL and EH Junior Championships. Having finished top of their League the GU14 League teams reached the QF HCGL. The Devs team had their best league finish for a number of years.

The Colts BIG Thank you goes to:
Damon Hill - Damon has been the Colts coach of a Reading Colts team that has been in the top four in the country for 3 years running. He has coached and produced some extremely talented players and teams.
Andy Watts - Overall supporter for colts bringing M1s down to coach for the last 3 seasons. Main leader of the Reading camps raising £10k pa for the club each year. Andy has been at the club for 19 years including as a colt. His contribution to Colts and the wider club has been immense.
Charlotte Kerr - Manager of the YLs ensuring YL turned up and knew where to work. A regular U10 coach (including drawing up session plans) and she has stepped in to handle TVMS when GU12 were short of coaches. Charlotte works in the Hungry Hut (the main Colts fund raiser) and often clears up at the end of a colts’ day. Reliable and a great pleasure to work with throughout the season.
And finally, Fran Harvey - Behind the scenes Fran has been the unseen support of Colts including ensuring colts themselves featured in Ladies selection processes, providing pitchero training for AGAs and Colts Membership Sec, sorting all matters on pitchero including loading colts’ fixtures. In addition, on Sundays, she has cooked in the HH, umpired an endless list of colts matches and has stood in for the Head of Colts on a Sunday when she’d had to drop everything and run!
