Another tough week

Reading entertained high-flying Henley under the lights at Sonning Lane.
With Henry Saxby back in goal and Tim Lavers available Reading went in to this tough encounter in confident mood and from the start bossed possession. However a canny Henley side with an experienced backline and some young forwards were reasonably comfortable absorbing the pressure. Unsurprisingly the opening goal, when it came, was on the break and against the run of play. Nil-one, a familiar pattern to recent weeks.
Reading continued to play passing, expansive hockey and Henley continued to keep things tight at the back. At half-time there was no change and the boys in blue regrouped, spoke about being compact out of possession and started the second half. Unfortunately, speaking about being compact is no substitute for doing it. Henley scored twice in quick succession from forced passes through the centre being turned over and the home team not reacting quickly enough. It should have been game over but Reading are getting used to being three goals down, a drag flick at a Penalty Corner from Ahmet Tuney and a sharp finish from Chris Priddle after a lovely aerial in to the D from Tuney got Reading back in the mix and Henley were reeling until a nice deflected move at a Henley Penalty Corner mad it 4-2.
Another good performance from Reading, compliments from the visitors and no points on the board.
