With strong winds from Brian, the Rovers were wasteful in the first half, missing several chances. Although Phoenix never looked like scoring for most of the first half, when a chance did come their way, they took it forcing the ball home. The Rovers lost 2 players in the first half to injuries and started the second half down to 10, with 1 player only able to walk.
However with some re-organisation we quickly pulled back two goals from short corners before winning a penalty flick which Paul applied the finish to. Ronan then returned from the side lines again with limited mobility to give us 11 again and some additional outlets to play the ball too. In the middle of the second half Phoenix missed an open goal, no one is sure how but excellent defensive work from Gary put the forward off. From then on Phoenix rarely troubled the organised Rovers defence and we scored 1 but should have scored more on the break, leading to a convincing 4-1 win.
As for Brian, he was kind to both teams, with only a light spot of rain at half time, so a good day for the Rovers.
