Micky decided to delegate Captain’s duty and match report writing to yours truly because of his excesses of whisky at the Friday night RHC Burns Night.
With Hoops crying off with Man Flu we arrived (via a very interesting journey in Tim’s electric car!) with just 12 and with captain Micky nursing a hangover from hell.
A delayed start and miserable weather did not deter us and we started brightly with a few half chances and two short corners.
Steve B , Mike S and Scottish Steve controlled the midfield and with Keevey and Tim making telling runs we caused the Bromley defence problems.
Tim eventually, after a lot of good individual work in the D, slotted in a good goal.
We went into half time 1-0 up but Captain Micky was not happy , I think it was frustration at the Redsox’s not getting more goals rather than our poor play but we got a rollicking anyway and it seemed to do the trick.
We played some lovely free flowing, quick hockey; our second came (before an unbelievable miss from Fitty from 6 inches) by a reverse hit from an impossible angle by Micky.
To be honest Bromley were not very good but solid defence from Chris CK , Matt and Brad meant Rav had nothing to do in goal and with Brad and Chris pushing up in support of the midfield meant we had total dominance.
Two more goals followed in quick succession from Micky and Tim again to take the game away totally from Bromley and wonderful fifth goal involving Keevey, Tim A and flying pig finish from Denehy ensured a comprehensive victory and a hat trick for the captain who hadn’t wanted to play.
Obligatory selfie (well remembered Fitty) after the game in the pub is attached
Well done all it was a cracking game to play in and well worth the long trip to Bromley in the rain.
