Supervets Close Encounter

Southgate arrived at Sonning lane with a useful side to make for a close encounter in the Supervets league match.

Fortunately the Relics were at full strength and took the lead through a Pelly individual effort. With several chances squandered to move further ahead, the scores were level at half time as Southgate converted a short corner. Two goals soon followed, A clean strike from Hoops and a tap in for Wright after good work from Hoops and Holden. But things got a little tense, as first Pelly, and then Armitage pulled up lame.

Wright hit the bar following a good move down the right and the Southgate keeper made three top saves to keep the score down. They snatched another from an excellent short corner strike to leave the last five minutes a lot closer than perhaps it could have been.

It was very telling that they made their keeper man of the match, but three points well-earned for Micky, the absent skipper, to keep the Relics just top of the league with our crunch match v’s Indian Gym to come on March 2nd.
