With a team of 14 Reading played away at Amersham & Chalfont, the weather was ideal hockey conditions and spirits were high.
Mani and Charlotte sent flying balls up the line and Charlotte distributed well throughout the middle during the first half.
Reading conceeded a short corner mid way through the first half, unfortunately Charlotte K broke early leaving Reading with only 3 defenders and Georgia to defend the short corner. A&C took advantage of this to ping the ball around the D before slotting the ball in the corner.
Reading made a number of excellent counter-attacks but were unable to convert until eventually Anna K scored so at half time the score was 1-1.
In the second half both teams were very determined throughout the rest of the game, Reading remained on top for much of it and over the course of the game won 18 short corners! Yes really!
However, we couldn't convert, push sides continued to push hard and A&C managed to put a period of sustained pressure upon the Reading defence of Kerr, Marta, Anna & Mani during the last ten minutes.
A determined Reading team didn't give up and managed to once again swiftly move the ball down the pitch and win yet another short corner which A&C tried to defend but instead gave away another short corner. The whistle went for full time and all of the Reading team came up, determined it must go in this time....
Ellie once again injected the ball to India who shot, Anna J and Rachel ran in for the rebound to ensure the ball was poked over the line. Cue mass team celebration! Literally leaving it to the last minute to bag all 3 points!
