Sorry about the sad picture of a few cones with this report. Team - we need a good photo effort for next week!
Despite traffic jams in Henley and Charlotte Kerr thinking of changing sport after her detour to Rickmansworth Golf Club we got ourselves organised and ready to take on Amersham. Lovely to have Ellie Mann with us this week even though she was a little jaded from Freshers week (again!)
Once again the team started with pace and created lots of pressure but took a while to settle and start playing our good hockey. We got to the second half of the first half before we started to move the ball around and created lots of chances. Great attacking work from Charlotte Kerr from the right half back position (obviously still enthusiastic for hockey and not golf!), shots just missing the target from the forwards and short corners won. No goals though!!!
Amersham upped the pressure further in the second half and scored an early goal. Reading continued undaunted and continued to create some great chances by passing early and the forwards working together to create scoring chances - cheeky skills from Meg & Mae almost beat the GK on a number of occasions.
The match was a game of 4 halves!!! In the last quarter of the game the team really started to move the ball around and created lots of pressure in the circle - Charlie & Amy driving in from the top of the circle creating shots and winning more corners. Frankie Hogge turning defenders inside out.
Eventually the team decided to stick to one of the planned corner routines requested by the coach - GOAL! Following further short corners that also followed the planned corner routines ANOTHER GOAL! Just sayin team!!!!!!
Good win guys. You know you've had a good day when it is difficult to decide on MOM - on fire Frankie Hogge will be wearing the hero mask & cape though. Good job!
