On a roll

An incident filled afternoon saw Reading Ladies 4's win their third match in a row with goals from Mary (first one since switching from football to hockey), Tracy H (unusually her first of the season, much to the relief of her team mates) and Liz - who was also voted man of the match for her continuous forward momentum.
There were moments of good hockey, and moments of sheer panic and confusion - "whose playing inside left?" comes the cry. Silence. "Whose playing inside right?" 2 replies...
Other incidents saw a fresh entry for the Splash competition from Trina. For those new to the team I should explain. Last season saw so many moments of hilarity caused by people falling over their own feet with no interference from another player that we instigated the Splash Award, a much coveted award won for the first time by Heidi. Trina managed to fall over her stick and then stand on the ball in this match - but it was a magnificent roll! Sandy, competitive to the core, tried to convince us at half time that she had also scored a goal - sadly the umpires and most of the team must have had their eyes closed as they missed it.
Dick of the day had to go to Tracy H. Collecting votes for man of the match in the bar after the game, Tracy asks: "Who is number 42?" A look at the team sheet reveals we have no number 42 - the 2a's have a 44 and a 45 but who is number 42? And then the penny drops. Reading her own hand written voting slip, Tracy declares: " Oh, it's not 42 - it's Liz..."
