Gemmill nets 4

We took to the field in glorious sunshine, and soon found, contrary to the scoreline, that we had a battle on our hands. Our defence, ably organised by our GK, were very busy in the first quarter. It took us a while to adjust to the pacey passing game played by Abingdon, but adjust we did. Liz scored the first of her 4 goals before half time, adding another 3 in the second half after some fine crosses from Tracy H and good forward momentum from the midfield and forward unit. Sandy was unlucky to be denied a scooped shot from a penalty corner which beat their GK but was diverted by a reflex positioning of the goal line defenders stick to send the ball just over the bar.
